Reiki Healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki healing is a Japanese energy healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes physical and emotional healing as well as well-being. It originated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the 19th century by MIKAO USUI.

What is the origin of the word Reiki?

The word Reiki consists of two Japanese words – Rei which means “universal” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So, Reiki is actually “universal life force energy.” It is an energy of higher consciousness and unconditional love.

What happens during a session?

During a Reiki healing session, practitioners place their hands on or above the recipient’s body and transfer energy to the recipient. In turn, the recipient experiences many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.

What is more, we can practice Reiki not only on other people, animals, plants and objects but also on ourselves.

Can Reiki healing cause any side-effects?

Reiki is a completely natural and safe technique as the body is not manipulated in any way. Furthermore, the Reiki practitioner does not administer any medicine, dietary advice or supplements.  Reiki is conducive to healing and self-improvement merely by the placing of the hands on or above the body. Reiki can complement medical treatments to relieve illness-related stress, eliminate side effects and promote recovery. It is recognized and used in many renowned hospitals like Johns Hopkins.

How can I learn how to practice it?

Reiki is very easy to learn and practice as it independent of our beliefs, our age, our sex, our religion, our intellectual capacity, our educational background and/or our occupation not does it require a special “gift”. People of all ages and backgrounds can do it. Even children as young as 7 can learn and use Reiki.

What distinguishes Reiki from other energy healing techniques?

One of the differences between Reiki healing and other energy healing techniques is that, besides the necessary training, Reiki students receive an “attunement” given by a Reiki master. It is thanks to this “attunement” that Reiki practitioners can access and use an unlimited supply of “universal life force energy” to improve their own and other people’s physical and emotional health and improve quality of life.

Is Reiki a cult?

Contrary to certain misconceptions which may arise from the fact that Reiki practitioners should live by certain simple moral ideals which promote inner peace as well as tolerance, compassion and love, Reiki is NOT a religion. Reiki is an inward journey towards healing and inner peace.
